Turin
At a gorgeous church in Turin

After another too-short night, we all ate breakfast and then put all the luggage into my room so the maids could clean the other rooms, yet our luggage would still be safe.  Sara did another outstanding job with the tour.  For some reason, I thought her tours were only supposed to be 2 hours, but they’re actually three!  I will remember that for next year so I allow enough time.  I enjoy the Turin tour because there is so much amazing history surrounding the area from Roman to present-day!

old meets new
After that, I took Meg to get a bicirin because she loves everything in the drink!  After that, we went back to the dorms, grabbed our stuff and went back over to Eataly (shocked?) for lunch.  Meg had a huge salad and I had a veggie lasagna with a béchamel sauce. Unfortunatley, the sauce didn’t agree with my belly…maybe too rich?  There was more sauce and cheese than veggies, which made me sad too.  It was tasty, just too much.

whimsical!!
We went back to the metro and to the trains.  We had to slum it on the way back because there weren’t any 1st class tickets available in our price range, but it worked out well.  The 2nd class cars were air conditioned, in terrific condition, and were practically empty.  We could see the Alps clearly although my pictures didn’t really reflect the awesomeness!

Got back to the dorms and we went out to eat at the restaurant across the street.  The weather was nice, so we sat outside.  I ordered a “Pizza Americana” which is also known in some restaurants “Yankee Pizza.”  It is a pizza with hotdogs and French fries, hahaha!!  I’ve had them before and they’re not spectacular, but every once in a while it’s nice to have a touch of home. Meg had a hot dog pizza with her fries on the side.

Came home, tried to get some work done (a losing battle),  turned on the World Cup (I was rooting for the Netherlands) and then went to sleep.
