Elisa teaching our Italian lesson
The medicine works, which is nice.  It’s not a dreadful cold, just a little runny nose and a lot of sneezing! This morning I decided to send the 4 fashionistas out on a trip while the rest of us heard Eduardo Fleishner speak about Beppe Grillo.

For those of you who don’t know about Grillo, he has been a comedian in Italy for at least three decades and has always been outspoken about politics.  He is a pretty funny guy with some serious points.  I don’t mean that I support him one way or another (I don’t know the deep, dark roots of his political philosophy), just that I can appreciate what he’s doing.

He was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the 1980s, so he can never hold office himself, but he has created a huge political “situation” where people have responded in the millions.  Fascinating character…we do not have one quite like him in the US.
happiness after a
long day!

More than any previous year, it’s rained.  A lot!  And consistently.  On the bright side, I haven’t completely melted with the heat and humidity.  There has still been a lot of humidity, but manageable with the cooler weather.  It has put a damper on some plans (hahah…..pshew, I’m so funny), but we’ve managed to get around that.

John & Mo
Take tonight for example.  We had an Italian lesson with Eliza.  She did a few things differently this year and I liked it better.  We met at Cadorna, which is where we usually meet because she comes from Lugano.  Then, we walked for about 10 mins and she found a place we could sit under cover and she conducted the lessons.  From reading the blogs, I found that some thought it was useful, others didn’t. By the time we were done with the lessons, it was pouring, so we had to go to plan B.

Look at our cute waiters!
Plan B was not going to aperitivo at the Navigli where we would have had to sit outside, but to a place indoors right outside the Castello called Van Bol e Feste (http://www.vanbolandfeste.it/)   The aperitivo was very, very expensive (15E a person), but since we were able to get into the Brera for free, I’m actually ahead within the budget.  I love it when that happens.  I was introduced to a new drink tonight called the Caprissima alle Fragole.  It’s a Caprissima with strawberries.  Very refreshing and pleasant, not too overpowering.  Perfect for a hot day….which it wasn’t just rainy.

So, all in all….a nice ending to a day!
