Woke up a little earlier than yesterday. I should have opened up the window because I
was all sorts of hot!! It could be my “special
time of life” but I think it’s more likely my synthroid is off again. Ugh!
What a hassle!!! We got up and
had another wonderful breakfast with freshly made cappuccinos. We took a leisurely walk up to the train
station and after paying 15 little francs (don’t know what they’re called) for
a piece of candy, we had some Francs to buy our train tickets back to St.
Moritz.
Got there, bought some water for the train and then we went
to wait for our return trip on the Bernina Express. We were there about an hour early, but that
was fine…..we were content to wait. The
conductor saw we were waiting and let us onto the train early, which was really
nice.
The trip back down was just as picturesque and lovely as the
one coming up. Whereas Friday was nice
and sunny, today was a little cloudy, which made everything look
different. We got some more beautiful
shots of things. The only difference
between today and Friday was that today there were children on board. Who liked to whine. Or chatter loudly. I feel a little curmudgeonly, but they were
driving me crazy and I wished they’d not have come. Yeah, I’m a terrible person, haha!
Arrived back in Tirano and had a pizza for lunch. It was actually not that good…the dough was
way too thick and not fully cooked. But,
the toppings (ham and pineapple) were really good, so that made up for it. The highlight of Meg’s lunch was a hot
chocolate that was more like chocolate pudding.
My highlight was discovering that the water dispenser (free) also had
frizzante (fizzy water). I was able to
fill up my old bottle with new fizzy water!
Joyous day!
However, later….it was not so joyous as we were on an old
train and it was packed and the toilet closest to us was out of order. Oh well….I’m a big girl and because it was
too crowded to go through the train, I just dealt with a full bladder of
fabulous fizzy water!! The train ride
this time was uneventful, other than no toilet.
We were first on the train, so we had a seat the entire way home. The train ticket for these trains give you
access to the train, but not a seat. So,
there were people standing in the aisles and in between the cars for about
30-40 minutes by the time we stopped at the last stop before Milan.
Got back to the dorms and went to Gemellis to eat
dinner. They are a fun place to eat,
although they don’t have an extensive menu.
Their food is high quality and tasty and the staff there are super
awesome! Came home, did some work and
then went to bed. Class doesn’t begin
until 2:30 tomorrow because our instructor is coming up from Rome :o) That means I get to sleep in!!! Life is wonderful!
