I made it! Everything
went smoothly. I sat next to a really
nice girl who is going to Italy (south of Venice) for a 5 week long opera
program. She sang a little bit, very
softly, and she has a great voice! The
coolest thing was that she was practicing “The Elixir of Love.” That played at
the Kennedy Center in March and Addi, John, & I went to see it. We chatted briefly about that, otherwise we
were pretty quiet.
The cabin area I was in was almost completely full….maybe
entirely full. And, we were “blessed”
with a toddler who would not stop screaming.
There were other babies and younger toddlers on board, but this
particular little brat (I mean precious child) made things pretty miserable for
a while. I felt sorry for the mom
because she must have known everyone hated her kid!
I’m still recovering from my tummy bug, so I didn’t eat
everything for dinner and sadly….very sadly…..I only drank about 1/3 of the
bottle of free French wine I got with dinner.
I chose steak and mushrooms in gravy with mashed taters. It came with tiramisu (of which I’m not a big
fan…gasp!), a yummy roll, a scrumptious orzo with curry sauce, and apple sauce
and brie. I ate a part of everything and
left the rest.
I slept in Wednesday night into TH morning. Good news was that I wasn’t exhausted. The bad news was that I couldn’t really
sleep. So, I watched 3 ½ movies. They’ve been on my “to watch” list, so I’m
pleased to have had the chance to watch them.
The first one I watched was the most recent Muppet movie. I just loved it! “Bad frog….bad frog!!” The cameos that tv/movie stars did were
awesome!
Then I decided to watch Saving Mr. Banks. It made me tear up in more than one
place! If you haven’t seen it, you
must! I have been told by numerous
people to see it and am SO glad it was on the plane! It pulled at your heart strings and made you
appreciate the love and devotion a child (blindly) had for her father. Sniffle sniffle!
The next one was a lot more nail biting: Gravity with Sandra Bullock and George
Clooney. Wow…what a great movie! I even found myself holding my breath a few
times, haha! She did a terrific job with
the movie. She is a talented actress who
makes you believe she IS the character with every person. One of the saddest parts of the movie for me
was when she says that no one would mourn her if she died. I found that hard to believe, but then
wondered how many people out there feel that way?? If you’re reading this, know that I would
definitely mourn your passing.
The last one was a kid’s movie: Mr. Peabody and Sherman. I only got to watch about 45-50 mins. I’ll have to see if Netflix has it so I can
watch the end. It’s exactly what I
thought it would be and it made me happy.
I love Mr. Peabody!! Before I
found that movie, I tried to watch that movie about the Bangkok Hotel. Watched for 7 mins and decided it wasn’t for
me.
We wound up taking off about 30 mins late and we landed
about 20 mins late. Things were a breeze! The plane unloaded sloooooowly :o( But, got off and got through the security
line. Had free wifi for 15 mins, so I
used it to contact John & Carroll.
There’s such a time difference that Carroll was still awake in Seattle,
haha!!
Found the terminal I needed to be at and began my wait. I need to see if it’s a super new
terminal. I remember having to walk over
a mile to get from my plane to the domestic terminals and now? It is a short walk. Well, comparatively speaking. I’ve been burned more times than not for not
having a decent layover, so I had a 4 hour layover from time of landing to time
of next take off. This layover wound up
to be 3 hours after I disembarked and I was happy to wait. Sat and people
watched, which entertained me.
Got on the plane and sat next to two really nice people from
Detroit who are going on a cruise from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg and hitting
several stops along the way. We all
slept for about an hour and then drank our coffee and ate our cookies. Got off the plane and waited forever for my
luggage! I was so nervous that it had
been lost or delayed. Not to worry, I
got them. Walked out and there were Gill
and Ronnie to pick me up! Thank
goodness!
After a light lunch, Ronnie had to go into town for a
retirement party and Gill took me to Dragør, which is an old fishing
village. Very cute place. Some had thatched roofs and others tile. We walked about a mile around the village
looking at the different architecture, boats, and people. Went into the local grocers to find some
decaf coffee (she insisted….I said I could do without!) and water to drink.
The coolest thing about going to the harbor/sea side area
was that I could see Sweden!!! If I was
staying here longer, I’d insist we ran up into Sweden. However, since I wouldn’t
be spending the night, it wouldn’t really count :o) Seeing it was enough.
Now I’m typing before I fall asleep. I am now thoroughly tired. Was going to try to stay up to eat dinner
with them, but I’m full and I’m tired.
Good combination, so off goes the computer and on goes the eye shades!
